Zip-Around Wallet Project - Medium
If you’ve been following along, you might remember that I previously shared two zip-around wallet projects—one large and one small. Today, I’m excited to introduce the medium size version, which fits perfectly in between!

This wallet finishes at approximately 7 1/4” x 4”, making it compact yet spacious enough for your everyday essentials.


Features
The medium zip-around wallet includes:

• 6 card slots (3 on each side)
• 2 roomy compartments 
• 1 zipper pocket in the center 

It has a very similar layout to the small version, but with a bit more room for those who like extra space while still keeping things compact and organized.

Fabric Options
For this version, I used faux leather, which gives the wallet a sleek and polished look. Cork, canvas, cotton quilting or other light-medium weight woven fabric will work as well.
If you choose cotton or canvas fabric, I recommend adding stabilizer to the lining fabric to give the wallet the structure and durability it needs.

Make Your Own
This project is for intermediate skill level and is a great way to practice installing zippers and sewing card slots neatly.

Exterior fabric 
Medium to heavy-weight cotton canvas, waxed canvas, denim, upholstery fabric, or faux leather; durable material that holds shape well. I use waxed canvas fabric for this project.
Lining fabric 
Quilting cotton or lightweight cotton. Choose a fun or coordinating print.
Stabilizer
Foam stabilizer (one sided fusible such as Pellon Flex-Foam) 
Main zipper 14 1/2" double pull nylon coil zipper #5
Front exterior zipper pocket 12 1/2" nylon coil zipper #5 
Interior zipper pocket nylon coil zipper #5 at least 8" long
D-rings 1" inner measurements
Swivel hooks 1" inner measurement
Slider (adjuster) 1" inner measurement.
Rivets 
1" Webbing

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THE BELTED BUCKET BAG

FABRIC
For the main exterior fabric I recommend using faux leather. Cork, or canvas fabric will make a great alternative too.
If you opt for faux leather or cork fabric, make sure to choose the one that is on the softer side - not too stiff.
If you choose to use canvas fabric, depending on the thickness of the fabric, you may need to apply soft interfacing such as fusible fleece or batting - Give it a quilting accent to make it more interesting.

For the accent and lining fabric, I recommend to use cotton quilting fabric (lightweight cotton).

ZIPPERS
You will need size #5 or #4.5 nylon coil zipper, one for the back exterior pocket, and one for the front exterior zipper pocket. I love using zipper by the yard for its efficiency.

HARDWARES
D-rings 1" (25mm) inner measurements 2x
Swivel hooks 1 1/2" (38mm) inner measurements 2x
Adjustable strap slider 1 1/2" (12mm) inner measurement

OTHER
1 1/2" (38mm) wide webbing strap 55" (140cm) long
1/8" or 1/4" basting tape.

FABRIC

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THE ZIP AROUND WALLET PURSE

FABRIC
Cotton quilting fabric is what I use for the exterior fabric here, however canvas fabric will also work great (just leave out the interfacing since canvas fabric already enough thickness).
For the interior of the wallet I recommend to use cotton quilt weight fabric.

INTERFACING/STABILIZER
Pellon 809 (decor bond), Pellon 808 (craft fuse), or decovil light can be used as stabilizer to give the wallet a structure
Fusible woven interfacing is used to add stability to the wallet exterior panel, and card pocket panels

ZIPPER
Size #5 nylon coil zipper 17.5" (44.5cm) long for the zipper closure. 
All purpose nylon coil zipper at least 6"/15 long for the zipper pocket.

Other
RFID blocking fabric (optional)
1/8" basting tape to baste the zipper pocket; 1/4" basting will work as well

After you downloaded the Small Zip Around Wallet Pattern, cut your fabric, interfacing, and stabilizer accordingly, then follow along with the video tutorial.
