Hi, my name is Yoan. I'm a sewer, quilter, and a video creator.
I have been sewing since I was a little girl. I used to sew (by hand) my own Barbie doll's clothes out of scraps that I got from an older lady neighbor who was a seamstress, and was kind enough to teach me the basic of hand sewing.
However, I did not pursue sewing as a career or a hobby then, but rather to scratch my own itch, from hemming and altering my oversized school uniform (I got in trouble so much due to hemming my school skirts a little "too short" than what the school allowed during my middle and high school years hahah....), fixing my denim pants, repairing button, closure, etc.
About 8 years ago, due to experiencing the so called "burnout" with my job in corporate world, I began sewing again (this time as a hobby), simply to escape and relax after a busy day at work.
I took a brief pattern drafting class locally for the fun of it, as I was initially interested in garment sewing, and was curious about the process from scratch; although over time I realized that I prefer to make bags, quilts, small useful items etc, instead of clothing.
At first, I started this blog and my Youtube channel out of boredom and feeling of isolation during postpartum, also to record my little sewing and quilting journey. After receiving many positive feedback, I decided to post regularly on Youtube, mainly focusing on bag making, modern quilts, and scrap busting projects, and would typically upload 2-3 videos a month.
I was born and raised in Indonesia, left the country when I was in my early 20's, and have been living and working overseas since, (7 years in Dubai, UAE; and in the US for the past 5 years).
I currently reside in Northern Arizona with my husband, our 3 year-old son, and blue heeler dog. Beside sewing and making videos, I also enjoy hiking, mountain biking, crochet/knitting and reading.
Thank you for stopping by and Happy Sewing!
