Hi, my name is Yoan. I am the creator of YoanSewingStudio.
This blog and my Youtube channel were originally started out of extreme boredom and feeling of isolation during postpartum.
After receiving many positive and constructive feedback, I decided to post regularly on Youtube, and would typically upload 1-3 videos a month.
HOW I LEARN TO SEW
I learned to sew when I was a little girl from a neighbor who was a seamstress. She was kind enough to teach me basic hand stitching techniques, also gave away a bag of fabric scraps that I used to make some barbie doll clothes. Since then I've always loved fabrics, needle, and thread.
I rekindled my interest in sewing again about 10 years ago simply to help me relax after a hectic day at work. I bought my first basic sewing machine, and fell in love with sewing again indeed.
A little bit about me
I was born and raised in Indonesia. In my early 20's (year of 2008) I left my home country and started a life abroad. What I thought was gonna be a few years of overseas working experience has turned into a life time of adventure.
I spent 7 years living and working in Dubai, UAE; then moved to the US in summer of 2015, and have been living here since.
Besides sewing, designing, and taking care of my family, in my spare time I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and reading. I currently live in Northern Arizona with my husband, our 5 year old son, a dog, and a cat.
What sewing machine do you use?
Janome Skyline S5 and Juki TL-18QVP
Can I sell the stuffs that I make from your patterns and tutorials for my handmade business?
Yes, you may sell the stuffs that you make, given that it's a small home based handmade business. Mass production is prohibited.
Can I use your patterns in the kits that I sell?
No, unfortunately I do not allow my patterns to be used and sold in kits.
Can I create larger or smaller size (bags, quilt, etc) from your pattern?
Yes you can, feel free to alter any pattern to suit your need, unfortunately I do not provide different measurements. Each pattern that I share for free comes as is, any modification that you wish to do should be from your own brilliant creativity.
