Hi, my name is Yoan. Just a girl who loves to sew, quilt, and making videos. I have been sewing since I was a little girl. I used to sew (by hand) my own Barbie doll's clothes out of scraps that I got from an older lady neighbor who was a seamstress, and was kind enough to teach me the basic of hand sewing. I could still vividly remember how happy I was when she handed over a bag of fabric scraps for me to play with.
About nine years ago, I got my hands back to sewing after experiencing the so called "burnout" with my job in corporate world, what started as an activity to simply calm myself down after a busy day at work, soon turned out to be an obsession.
I was born and raised in Indonesia. In 2008, I moved to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I spent about 7 years working in the UAE (3 years in Abu Dhabi, 4 years in Dubai), and ended up marrying an American gentleman.
In summer of 2015, I moved to United States, and soon enough discovered the world of quilting, and totally fell in love with pretty much everything about it, and continuously explore and learn more every single day through books, blogs, and of course Youtube :).
I originally started this blog and my Youtube channel out of boredom and feeling of isolation during postpartum, also to record my little sewing and quilting journey. After receiving some feedback, and seeing some growth, I decided to take this more seriously and post on regular basis. I mainly focus in bag making, patchwork, and quilting, and would typically post 3-4 videos a month.
I currently reside in a high mountain town of Northern Arizona with my husband, son and our rescued blue heeler dog. Beside sewing and making videos, I also enjoy hiking, mountain biking, crocheting and reading.
My aim on every video and projects that I share, is for you to learn and be able to make beautiful stuffs out of your domestic sewing machine at the comfort of your home.
Can I sell the stuffs that I make from your designs and tutorials for my handmade business?
What sewing machine do you use?
