Hi everyone, today I would like to share with you a tutorial on how to sew this adorable patchwork tote bag with recessed zipper.
I made the patchwork for this bag out of 4 Jelly rolls, with a little shortcut trick. The finished measurement of this bag is about 16" x 12", and it has 2 slip pockets inside. The outer bag was quilted, however you can also use fusible fleece instead, if you want to omit the quilting step.
Supplies :
4 Jelly roll strips (2.5" x 44" fabric strips) 1/2 Yard of Accent Fabric ( you may also use 2 fat quarters) 1/2 Yard Quilt weight fabric for the lining 1/2 Yard Quilt weight fabric for interlining Quilt Batting 18" Nylon Zipper Tote bag handles Rotary Cutter Cutting Mat Fabric Shear Pinking shear Walking Foot Sewing Machine Sewing Needle Cutting Instruction Outer Bag : Front Accent Strip : Cut 1 piece of 3" x 16.5" out of the accent fabric Top Back accent strip : Cut 1 piece of 3" x 16.5" strip out of the accent fabric Bottom back accent : Cut 1 piece of 8.5" x 16.5" rectangle out of the accent fabric Lining: Cut 2 pcs of 15" x 16.5" rectangles out of the lining fabric Zipper Panels : Cut 4 pcs of 2.5" x 16.5" fabric out of the accent fabric Pocket : Cut 2 pcs of 8" x 16.5" rectangles out of the lining fabric I posted the full step by step video tutorial on my Youtube channel.
