This is a heavier canvas, thus requires no interfacing. I purchased my canvas fabric from this Etsy Store. Regular cotton quilting fabric is what you need for the accent fabric and the lining fabric. The lovely butterfly theme accent fabric is another fabric collection that I designed at Spoonflower. Design 2 The exterior of design 2 combines black faux leather fabric (main body) and cotton quilting fabric (the flap). For the lining fabric I also use cotton quilting fabric. STABILIZER & INTERFACING Mid-weight firm stabilizer is used in this project to add structure to the flap, sides, back, and the bottom of the bag (Design 1). The use of faux leather fabric in Design 2, already gives the bag enough structure. Therefore, we only use the stabilizer to reinforce the flap and the bottom part. What stabilizer to use? I recommend to use mid wight firm stabilizer such as Decovil light, Pellon 808 (craft fuse) or Pellon 809 (decor bond) Fusible woven interfacing is used to stabilize the pleated pocket panel (external side). However, you may leave this out if you use heavier fabric (such as canvas or denim) as the accent fabric. HARDWARES This project requires basic bag making hardwares that you might already have in your stash. • Magnetic snap closures 2x sets (18mm for Design 1, 14mm for Design 2). • 2x Rectangle rings 1" (you can also use D-rings) • Adjustable strap slider 1" • Rivets (optional) 2x sets • All purpose nylon coil zipper (at least 8" long) Watch the full video tutorial on my YouTube channel.
