In this new upcycling project, I am very excited to share with you the three-zip crossbody bag pattern that is made from an old winter jacket. Taking full advantage of the sturdiness and waterproofness of a jacket material, plus the functionality of its design, this bag will surely become one of your favorite. If you happen to have an old, slightly worn out, or outdated jacket, you may use that for this project, otherwise feel free to use fabric that you have in your stash (canvas, linen, denim, or cordura fabric will work great). Finished bag measurements : 10 1/2” wide x 11 1/2“ tall x 2 deep (bottom) / 26.7 x 29 x 5 cm Features include 2x front zipper pockets Zipper Closure Adjustable Strap 2x Interior Slip pockets 1x Interior Zipper pocket This post may contain affiliate links. WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THE THREE-ZIP CROSSBODY BAG • A large winter jacket I found my husband's old winter jacket with broken zipper, yet the material is still good. What's great about using a winter jacket is, the fabric is usually pretty sturdy and waterproof. However I do not recommend using puffer jacket, because they're quilted and have layers of padding, thus difficult to extract the material without leaving too much mess. Denim, utility canvas, even windbreaker type jacket will also work great for this project. You may also use yardage fabric that you may have in your stash. Canvas, denim, or home decor fabric will work great for this project. • Nylon coil zippers (size #5) You will need three zippers for this project. Two zippers for the front zipper pockets - at least 9" (23cm) long, and one main zipper closure - at least 12" (30.5cm) long. I use zipper by the yard for this project amzn.to/4b5qvg9 • Strap Hardware - D-rings, adjustable strap slider, swivel hooks amzn.to/4bku8PE • Optional - Stabilizer for the bottom panel. Use decovil light or foam stabilizer for this. You may fuse it to the bottom exterior or interior, depending on which fabric can adhere to it.
