Naomi Tote Bag
The Naomi Tote bag is a large patchwork tote bag featuring front zipper pocket, and a cute knotted front flap. The use of the metal zipper really elevate the look of this bag (although you can also use nylon zipper). You can take this darling bag to work, party or any social gatherings, or roaming the town doing your errands.

This is a fun bag for you to make using some of the jelly roll strips from your stash. The finished measurement go this bag is about 15" x 14".

This is a great bag for your a day trip, road trip, market day, or casual daily errands.
The patchwork itself is made out of half square triangles that were extracted from charm packs (5" squares). I have put together the pattern for the front exterior shell on pdf format that you may download below :

sew an old man's shirt into a patchwork tote bag

Let's go a bit frugal this time by transforming an old Man's shirt into a lovely tote bag. If you have a Man's shirt laying around in your closet, that you can't even donate that anymore. Like this one that I got here, this is belong to my husband, although the fabric is still looking great, but the collar and cuffs are starting to wear out (in this case I wouldn't even bother to donate this)

So,  I decided to extract some strips out of this shirt, add a little bit of white accent fabric, and voila!!

Hi everyone, today I would like to share with you a tutorial on how to sew this adorable patchwork tote bag with recessed zipper.

I made the patchwork for this bag out of 4 Jelly rolls, with a little shortcut trick. The finished measurement of this bag is about 16" x 12", and it has 2 slip pockets inside. The outer bag was quilted, however you can also use fusible fleece instead, if you want to omit the quilting step.

Supplies :
4 Jelly roll strips (2.5" x 44" fabric strips)
1/2 Yard of Accent Fabric ( you may also use 2 fat quarters)
1/2 Yard Quilt weight fabric for the lining
1/2 Yard Quilt weight fabric for interlining
Quilt Batting
18" Nylon Zipper
Tote bag handles
Rotary Cutter
Cutting Mat
Fabric Shear
Pinking shear
Walking Foot
Sewing Machine
Sewing Needle

Cutting Instruction
Outer Bag :
Front Accent Strip : Cut 1 piece of 3" x 16.5" out of the accent fabric
Top Back accent strip : Cut 1 piece of 3" x 16.5" strip out of the accent fabric
Bottom back accent : Cut 1 piece of 8.5" x 16.5" rectangle out of the accent fabric

Lining:
Cut 2 pcs of 15" x 16.5" rectangles out of the lining fabric

Zipper Panels :
Cut 4 pcs of 2.5" x 16.5" fabric out of the accent fabric
